Learning Autodesk VIZ 4 CD
Published in CD-ROM by Scott Onstott (18 March, 2002)
Average review score:

Clear, concise and completeThis disc represents a huge amount of knowledge on the subject not only of Viz 4, but of the 3D process in general. His format makes it very easy to navigate, and there are lots of cross-references, if you skip around. It's written with clarity and wit, using this tutorial is not the dull experience most are. It's particularly nice to be able to watch a video of every single subject covered. I really feel like I will know everything I will need to know about Viz using this disc. I would highly recommend this to all who are learning this program, and to those who may already know the Max/Viz interface, but don't know it in depth.
Viz 4 Learning BonanzaLearning Viz 4 seems is made easy by the introduction of a colorful, simple color coded table of contents. The Self assessment exercises, associated links and tips serve as useful tools to reinforce and quicken my learning curve for Viz. The step by step procedures and accompanying images really makes this an easy learning experience. The example files are a great bonus.
Unraveling the World of Viz 4I found Mr. Onstotts CD easy to use and very clear. You can tell
from the way the material is presented that he has been teaching the material for a long time and is very familiar with it.
From the well organized subject material to the self assesment
tests, I found the depth refreshing. Although the actual coursework is full and complete two of my more favorite items
were from areas that other materials usually ignore. The "hints" sections sprinkled through out the material give details that only could come from in depth use of the software. The troubleshooting area pays close attention to problems that the average user might encounter with clear step by step solutions.
I would recommend this disc to all users of Viz,beginner and advanced alike.

Learning from La Jolla: Robert Venturi Remakes a Museum in the Precinct of Irving Gill
Published in Paperback by Museum of Contemporary Art San (February, 1998)
Average review score:

Excellent! This is a very handsome book - of great interest for architectural buffs or historians. It pairs two great architects - Robert Venturi and Irving Gill - in a unique, engaging, and informative way. The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (in La Jolla, California)is one of the finest small museums in the country, well worth a visit to see outstanding architecture as well as cutting-edge contemporary art.
Gem of a book for a gem of a museumThis is an outstanding book for anyone interested in the work of two great architects - Robert Venturi and Irving Gill. The combination of their work at the museum in La Jolla is masterful, and this book gives a fascinating look into the museum's history and Venturi's thought processes as he sought to restore the historic "Scripps House" while expanding and modernizing the Museum of Contemporary Art. A great find - makes me want to visit La Jolla and see it for myself!
Another Venturi ClassicBuy this book even if you've never been to the La Jolla museum it describes. If you've been to the museum, it's worth buying to give you pause to reflect on what you've seen. This book offers both the history and theory behind Venturi's reshaping of a wonderful museum in an attractive location. Those of us who remember the museum in the old days have got to be impressed with what Venturi has done. Although this text is all too brief, it provides the illumination needed to appreciate more fully this California classic.

Lesson from a Venetian Vinedresser
Published in Hardcover by Bridge-Logos Publishers (10 November, 2001)
Average review score:

AwesomeThis book is one of the best books ever written about John 15. If you love to read wonderful christian books this is a must have.
Robert Scott Stiner has explained John 15 so well. Reading this book, it's as if I can visualize Christ in the vineyard with his disciples explaining to them that He is the vine and they are the branches and His father in Heaven is the vinedresser. If you have never read about this story in the bible you need to, but also read "Lessons From A Venetian Vinedresser". It helps to understand what Jesus was trying to tell his disciples.
Sometimes, when we don't bear good fruit, God is going to discipline us, or if we bear some fruit, but not as much as we should then He will prune us. Neither one is very much fun to go through, but our Heavenly Father knows what is best, even if we don't understand at the time. The Lord always has our best interest and wants our best. He loves us like noone else could ever possibly love us. He created us and has so much for us, if we just reach out and ask Him. It's free and it's the best gift you could ever receive.
Mr. Stiner has shown the love of our Lord so well in this book. I truly feel your life will change after you read this book. I'm going through this book for the 3rd time. Each time I read it, something else is revealed to me.
I believe that this book will be on the best seller list and stay there for a long time.
I worked in a christian book store and still deal with christian books. I read alot. I could not put this book down.
You will not regret buying this and reading it, probably more than once. I know several pastors who are doing a bible study using "Lessons"
There is so much to learn from this book. Please pick up a copy and take your time reading and enjoying this fantastic book.
See if like Robert Scott Stiner and so many other people have seen John 15 come alive in a way that I didn't know was possible.
I think how awesome to be able to walk around the vineyards of Italy and see how beautiful everything is and write such a wonderful book. It's hard to imagine Mr. Stiner ever having a writer's block of any kind.
I can't wait to read his next book which I hope will be out soon. I tell everyone about this book and encourage everyone I know and sometimes don't know to read this book.
I guarantee you will not be sorry.
Be blessed by this wonderful story about this man the vinedresser and how not only did Robert Scott Stiner's life change, but so did Mr. Bruzzo.
He deserves to be highly reconized, and I see another wonderful author in the christian book industry.
Thank you for writing this and for more books in the future.

Lessons From a Venetain VinedresserThis book is a must read for everyone that desires a closer walk with the Lord. Mr. Stiner walks you through the Vineyard and allows you to see through the eyes of the Vinedresser as he lovingly and carefully cares for his vineyard. Jesus said that he is the vine and we are the branches and in this book we learn just how much Jesus "our Vinedresser" loves us and tenderly cares for us. This book gave me insight into the fact that many times, we Christians think that we have backslidden when we are being "pruned" by the Vinedresser to "bear more fruit." I think this book should be read once a month to revive and restore our walk with Jesus.
Lessons from a Venetian VinedresserLessons from a Venetian Vinedresser is Biblical in its premise, pragmatic in its purpose and motivational in its approach. This book is splendid in every way. Robert Scott Stiner's book is well conceived and artfully executed. Christians everywhere should read, mark, learn and practice its truths. I heartily recommend it.

Liberating Your MagnificenceThis a thoughtfully and courageously written helpful and inspiring book. The words the Scotts have written are believableand therefore are truly encouraging in there honesty. This makes a terrific special gift to give someone.
A Tidal Wave of Love and Liberation!I have read both of Scott and Shannon's books and have found them to be true sources for coming to terms with love and a peaceful understanding of self worth. The interactive format is really a great way to share their message. A must read for anyone in desiring to contact their magnificent self!
A liberating experience!Very easy reading but with a profound, substantive, message. The quizzes and the exercises were really helpful. I've already reread it several times. I have learned the importance of listening continually for Love's guidance and to live in oneness with Divine Love. Thank you Scott and Shannon for writing this beautiful book and sharing it with the world!

Liberty of Conscience: Roger Williams in America (Library of Religious Biography Series)
Published in Paperback by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. (February, 1991)
Average review score:

The Founders' FounderThis beautifully written book brings to light, in an understated but poetic way, the genius and greatness of the man who, as Gaustad says, "was out to do nothing less than alter the institutional structure of the Western world." It is a measure of our time that many people-especially young people educated pursuant to the fashionable bromides of contemporary social science education-have never heard of this first founder of liberty of conscience and disestablishment of religion in America. In our epoch of attempted "faith-based" governmental initiatives, Gaustad's book reminds us, by constant reference to the writings of Roger Williams, of those principles that, after a bitter struggle of more than a century, came to distinguish this nation from the government-controlled religion and thought of the rest of the world. The life of Roger Williams shows that deeply held religious belief necessarily implies an unwavering commitment to the principle of absolute separation of church and state. Williams' life also demonstrates that at least one colonial leader tried, unsuccessfully, to overcome the tendency of the Puritans to treat Native Americans as less than human or as mere subjects for conversion to Christianity. The tragedy of Williams' life consisted solely in the failure of his decades-long effort to resolve the conflict between rapacious, religiously hypocritical English settlers and the Native Americans. The triumph of his life was his original pronouncement, in this country, of the enduring but often threatened principle that government should be restricted to civil, not religious, tasks. More than a century later, Jefferson and Madison built on the foundation that Roger Williams so nobly established in his writings and in the constitutional documents of Rhode Island.
Williams Still Relevant Today!Gaustad did an excellent job of portraying not only Williams' beliefs, politic and theology but the state of the world that led to their development and need. Very readable, never boring, practical and insightful to William's America as it is to ours. WE could learn a great deal from Williams, even so mamy years later. Gaustad truly brought him to life.
Insightful biography of WilliamsGaustad's Liberty of Conscience is the second biography of Roger Williams I have read this summer. Perhaps because the first, Covey's The Gentle Radical, was so prolix, I loved Gaustad's work. His selection of historical data, his clear sequencing, and his explication of Williams's own writings make this a delight to read. Seventeenth-century Britain and colonial America and all those names one vaguely remembers are vividly described. The prose is clear and attractive. I came away with a new appreciation of Williams. Gaustad sees him as the first to set forth those principles of religious liberty that were picked up after him by Locke, Penn, Jefferson, and others and which we take for granted today. Toleration is a subject of current conversation within the United States. This biography depicts someone who fought for toleration in a time when people were being banished and even executed for not believing what the political powers said they must believe. It really gives a healthy perspective on our times. I recommend it highly.

A LIFE IN LETTERS
Published in Hardcover by Scribner (18 July, 1994)
Average review score:

The Beautiful and Damned.F. Scott Fitzgerald scholar Matthew J. Bruccoli offers a discerning sample of Fitzgerald's letters that serve as an informal biography. Fitzgerald suffered many demons. Alcoholism and poor health were the obvious problems. From reading his letters, we learn that protecting his artistic integrity also weighed heavily on him. Money problems forced him to spend time writing lightweight but commercially viable stories for magazines. This took precious time away from his major work of writing serious novels. His afflicted wife, Zelda, was another dilemma. In 1930, Zelda had her first breakdown, and never recovered. Providing for her care and treatment added to his money woes. Although Fitzgerald enjoyed early success in 1920 with "This Side of Paradise," it was short-lived. By 1924, he wrote to Edmund Wilson, "I really worked hard as hell last winter--but it was all trash and it nearly broke my heart." There was critical success in 1925 with "The Great Gatsby," but it was a financial disappointment. Fitzgerald spent the next nine years writing, revising, and agonizing over "Tender Is the Night." Contrary to hope, that book failed to restore his reputation. The letters display deep introspection, opinions on other writers, comments of manners and morals, and daily concerns of money. There are also amusing and chatty letters to his daughter, Scottie. Fitzgerald's letters to Scribner's Maxwell Perkins and his literary agent, Harold Ober, are the most interesting, and reveal much of his concerns and ideas. Letters written to Zelda in the sanitarium are generally tender and loving, but occasionally they are cross and complaining. The book stops with a letter written to Scottie shortly before Fitzgerald's death in December 1940. Recommended reading for F. Scott Fitzgerald fans. ;-)
Intriguing form of biographyThis is the sort of book that makes one long for the days prior to-email, when people actually wrote letters to one another and correspondence other than bills and junk mail filled one's mailbox. The book is a valuable supplement to Fitzgerald's many biographies; his letters reveal a remarkable clarity and self-awareness. My heart ached after reading some of them. A must read for all Fitzgerald historians.
I do recommend reading one of Fitzgerald's many biographies prior to reading his letters, as it is a fascinating exercise comparing Fitzgerald's interpretation/rationalization of an event with a third party's.
Fitzgerald as only Fitzgerald knew him.If you want to gain insight into the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald then seek no further. This amazing compilation of Fitzgerald's correspondences to family, friends, business associates and acquaintances portrays the man and the writer in a way no biographer could imagine. In his letters can be clearly seen Fitzgerald the literary genius, Fitzgerald the loving husband and father as well as Fitzgerald the sycophant and Fitzgerald the tortured and insecure neurotic. The genesis and the demise of one of the most fascinating men of his time eloquently presented in his own words.

Links of Heaven: A Complete Guide to the Golf Journeys in Ireland
Published in Paperback by Baltry Books (August, 1996)
Average review score:

A great guide to golf in Ireland, and an awesome read!Richard Phinney and Scott Whitley have produced the best book on golf in Ireland to date. It's full of first accounts of the Emerald Isles' best courses as well as interesting stories about Irish characters in the world of golf. You'll read it more than once.
Great read! The best book ever written about Irish Golf. I read this book in preparation for a trip to Ireland last summer and took it along for the trip. The authors clearly love golf and do a great job in helping to explain why Irish golf is so special. If you only read one book on golf this year, let this one be it. However, after reading the book you might have an uncontrollable desire to make the trip yourself!
Unique and helpful guide to golfing in IrelandThis book is a very helpful and unique guide to those who are planning a golfing vacation in Ireland. There is very little information like this in the usual travel books. The authors provide discriptions and history of the top 30 courses in Ireland in a very organized easy to read format. (There is information about 100 other courses as well) There is also some information on where to stay, eat, costs and other sites. Only one criticism, I wish there was more! I would like to know more about the nuts and bolts of getting around with golf clubs, some out of the way golf interests and information on unusual golf (not just the famous). However, I must say, I did appreciate the listing of golf tournaments that foreigners can play

Look before you lease : secrets to smart vehicle leasing
Published in Unknown Binding by Dublin Financial Press ()

Great money saver! This is an easy-to-read book that saves you bundles. Simple as that
This one saved me money!!This is a great book! It took me about an hour to read and it saved me a boatload on my lease! Intelligently written and easy to read, this one is a must-read if you're shopping. I especially liked the lease vs. buy stuff.
Excellent! An invaluable resource by any measure.'Look Before You Lease' is a must for anyone even considering leasing an automobile. The author sets out the facts and figures in plain English. In so doing, he makes the often incomprehensible mumbojumbo of the dealers and their leasing contracts easy to understand. Armed with the knowledge of how the leasing process works, and the tools to tell one when they're paying too much, the reader is given much greater leverage when walking through the lessor's door to strike a deal. The money to be saved is worth the price of the book several times over.

Ludell
Published in Library Binding by Harpercollins Juvenile Books (December, 1992)
Average review score:

My first favorite author and favorite bookLudell, was the first book that I read through my school RIF program. It was written by a black author and I told everyone I knew about it. I was in sixth grade and this book changed and enhanced my thoughts. It is a book I will cherish always. I continually passes it on to young ladies and they all have their own personally experience about this book. I have lost my original copy however, I was able to order it again. I lost Ludell and Willie, however, I do have Ludell New York adventure. My first and favorite author will always be Ms. Brenda Wilkenson, she open my eyes to the art of Reading. Please ask you local bookstore to order this book for you. It has some much of pleasant memories of when a Child could really be a Kid.
This is a wonderful preteen book. .Ludell is a wonderful preteen book. I read this book as well as Ludell and Willie and many many more when I was 11yrs old. Of all the books I read as a young girl, this was my very favorite. It really helped me to understand some of the things I was going through at that time in my life. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down until the last page. I cant wait to give it to my girls. Anyone looking for a charming coming of age book for youngsters glued to the television should consider this book.
a fabulous book for pre-teensWhen I was 10 years old I was an avid t.v. watcher. Much to my mother chagrin that's all I did everyday. After many arguments and threats she decided to take matters into her own hands. She put me on punishment. No t.v. for a month. This was beyond punishment to me. She might as well had told me not to breathe again. I refused to talk to her for days. One day out of the blue she came into my room and handed me a book. We were very poor and to 'waste' money was something that was frowned upon. So she gives me this book and tells me that books are what she used to 'watch' when she was a kid. I grudgingly took the book. I quickly lost myself in Ludell's life. She reminded me of my mom. She's curios and full of life. Ludell's freinds became my frieds. At 10 years old I finished reading Ludell in less than a day! A couple of years later walking aimlessly around the public library (I now 'watched' more books than I watched t.v.) I found Ludell and Willie. I shouted as loud as I could I was so happy. I knew Ludell and Willie belonged together. Now at 21, I'm looking for Ludell to pass down to my cousin. We have similar taste in books. It's a shame that Ludell is out of print. I wish I would have kept the one I had but sadly it got mixed up in some things that were donated to the Salvation Army. Whoever was the lucky person to receive Ludell, I know they loved that book as much as I did.

The Magic in Food: Legends, Lore and Spellwork (Llewellyn's Practical Magic Series)
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (January, 1993)
Average review score:

A Book For Everyday!...Once again Scott compiled a fine work that covered all areas. Covers things such as: Ritual of Eating, Food Magic, & Festival Foods. Covers food then in catagories: Breads/grains, Cakes, veggies, fruits, herbs/spices, dairy, etc...etc...in these sections each item is descibed, the lore is given, magical uses, ruling planet and element, and the energies (eg. peace, healing, love etc...) Then there is over 60 pages of magickal diets. (love, protection, money, sex, etc..) Wonderful useful tables and mail order sources lastly. This book couldn't get anymore useful! I keep mine right with my cookbooks in my kitchen, like a good kitchen witch!
Why is this masterpiece out of print? This book is about as complete as you could get, aside from the exclusion of meat... His explanations are valid however, that red meat hinders psychic development, and many magicians are vegetarians as it is. Aside from that, the book is VERY comprehensive and I have not found much if anything that appears to have been overlooked. Scott begins the book with an overview of the magick in food, and how to harness it. He then divides the next part of the book into chapters for each separate food "group", such as: fruit, breads and grains, alcohol, eggs, spices and herbs, etc. The history of each food is given, such as where it was discovered, and what peoples ate it the most. Under each section specific foods are given, such as barley and rye in the bread section. Each listing gives the planet, element, energies, lore, and magickal uses. The information is practical and useful, just like the rest of his books. Part III details magickal diets, such as love, money, spirituality, weight loss, and peace and awareness. Here Cunningham gives a listing of foods pertaining to each magickal goal and suggestions on serving each. Finally, even junk food and fast food is covered, for those of us who can't live without it. A table of correspondence and a glossary round out this wonderful, well-written book. I wholeheartedly suggest trying to find a copy because I guarantee it: if you eat, you'll find use in this book. Bright blessings.
An excellent compendium of the magic and lore of foodAs with most of Scott Cunningham's work, this book is an excellent reference source for information about food and magic. The phrase "kitchen witch" has come into vogue over the past few years but Scott Cunningham was one of the first to make this subject accessible and interesting to a variety of readers. He compiled information from a variety of books (each listed in his annotated bibliography) and created and very useful and informative book. A must have for any true "kitchen witch"
